Corinne Forstot-Burke

Corinne Forstot-Burke is the Humanities Liaison Librarian for Performing Arts and Subject Coordinator for Scholarly Resources in the Arts and Humanities at UT Austin. Corinne has served on the MLA Development Committee since 2016 and due to her proclivity for cross-country moves, has been a member of various MLA regional chapters, including Midwest, California, Mountain Plains, and now Texas. Research interests include Digital Humanities research in the Performing Arts and the use of streaming and audiovisual materials for performing arts research. Previous positions include Performing Arts Librarian at the University of Kansas, Librarian at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and Head of Access Services for the University of Michigan Music Library.

Madelyn Washington

Coming to librarianship after 13 years as a performing flutist, vocalist, and choreographer, Madelyn Washington’s experience as an Obama-era academic librarian of color in south central Indiana informed her deep commitment to developing an anti-racist and empathetic professional practice. She has been engaged with qualitative techniques associated with capturing the experiences of under-represented academic librarians and administrators and in her first year as Coordinator of the Music Library at the University of Houston made great strides to build strong relationships between her library and the Gulf Coast performing arts community. She looks forward to working with music librarians across the Lone Star State to promote best practices in Inclusion Diversity Equity and Access (IDEA) as Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of the Texas Chapter of the Music Librarians Association.
